Child On Keppra And Carbatrol. Drooling, Difficulty In Swallowing When Not On Medication. Any Other Options?
My daughter is on keppra and Neuro just added carbatrol 100mg 2x day since then she is out of it , drooling , difficulty swallowing her food and chewing.she is autistic and was somewhat social , now not talking at all, it's been 5 weeks with no change she is unable to complete any of the schoolwork she was doing. Doctor said since this is 3rd med we've tried there are no other options for her.i feel she has no quality of life on this med I'm looking for any advise. Thank you mt
I am so sorry your daughter had to come to this, when the doctor has run out of options. I would need much more information on her illness to be able to prognosticate and/or suggest alternatives for her. Drooling per se is an involuntary action caused by lack of co-ordination between the different jaw muscles and the tongue.
I agree that she is passing through a bad patch, but if her movement and seizure problems get controlled, she will gradually reduce.
