Hi, it is important to know that the diagnosis of autism is typically made before the age of 3 years when the child is observed to interact less in social gatherings, avoid eye contact and engage in solitary play. It is unlikely for a child to be normal till the age of 7 years and then develop Autism. At this stage it is important to ascertain whether your child has faced any situation in school which was mentally traumatic or has been facing any embarrassing moments in classroom. Equally important is to ensure he has achieved adequate toilet training and does not wet the bed. He may not be in a position to share these thoughts so gaining the child's confidence is the first step. Do get your child's eye sight tested and whether he is facing problems reading the blackboard. It easily makes the child lose interest in almost everything around him.
