Child Hit Head After Tripping. Later Complaining Of Headache, Vomitting Twice. See A Doctor?
My 4 year old girl hit her head around 4:30 CST. She tripped over the threshold and fell (porch is same level as door). She only cried for a minute or so. We went for a bike ride and she was fine. Went into town, book store, etc... On the way home she complained about her head hurting. She was not hungry during dinner and I gave her a dosage of amoxicillin ( ear infection , day 6). Shortly after aprox 8:30 she threw up. She laid down and has since gotten up and thrown up twice. Should I take her to the er?
Hi, Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic. Vomiting is because of the impact of head injury. She needs physical examination to look for any signs of brain injury. If necessary depending on clinical examination, imaging of brain is required to rule out any internal head injury. I advise you to take the child to emergency for physical examination and to rule out brain injury and for medication for vomitings and headache. Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
Hi Thanks for your query. Case of head injury needs to be monitored for at least 24 hours for following symptoms -any abnormal behavior, vomiting, bleeding from ear or nose. Since your baby has 2 to 3 episodes of vomiting,I suggest you to take her to ER for proper evaluation and management.
