hello kaleemrnb
I saw this question on June 23rd
How appropriate it will be, to reduce your
anxiety, I do not know. It will be useful for people with similar problem.
Neck glands: Please consider them as nets. Using a net we filter milk to remove the fat. similarly these nets the bacteria which have entered through mouth, nose and skin. With out these glands, the bacteria would have entered the blood stream and caused problems.
In short if a child has glands means the child has immunity.
Next if the germs are killed with out help of antibiotics, by body own defence mechanisms, then a tomb will be raised around the dead germ. Soon calcium will be deposited so that the dead material does not harm the surrounding area. This is called calcification.
Our job is to determine it is ordinary infection or
tuberculosis. You need not have tuberculosis at home, but it is present in the air. So I feel your child requires mantoux.
When to give powerful medicines for these swellings?
1. When size keeps increasing
2. When the skin over the swelling becomes red
3. The swelling becomes painful to touch
4. You are not able to move the swelling
