Child Having Sticky Saliva In Mouth And When Lied Down Coughs, Chokes. Cure For Symptoms?

Hello, my 2 week old baby seems to get very wet sounding and wheezy and has lots of bubbly sticky saliva in his mouth which gets worse after he has eaten (i am breastfeeding him) and when we lay him down it seems to get caught in his throat and he coughs and seems to choke somewhat on it and gets very upset by this. We took him to out of hours clinic and they seemed happy with him and said to follow it up with my GP which i am unable to do until Tuesday at the earliest due to bank holiday monday but as i say it gets worse when he eats and lays down and its worrying me that when he lays down he will be coughing and choking is there anything you can suggest please? Thank you

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

I think your baby should be examined by a pediatrician.

Excessive salivation and chocking occurs because of various causes.

Congenital anomalies, GERD (Gastro esophageal reflux disease) etc should be ruled out in your baby.
Continue to ask further queries.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
