Child Having Cough, Running Nose, Sounds Wheezy In Chest.

My child 7 years, had a croupie cough which started the 11th of October. After a few days that disappeared, no problem, and he was left with a normal cough during the day and night. Not too often, nothing to worry about. For the last few days his cough has got worse. With violent coughing bouts that last 5 minutes they don t sound like the seal bark , but he doubles over and sometimes vomits. He wakes up a lot at night because of this. He does not have a fever, no breathing problems, he does sound a little bit wheezy in the chest though and has a runny nose . The coughs sometimes sound like a very hard sneeze..

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Since the duration of cough is lasting longer than 15 days your child needs to be examined and investigated further. Complete blood counts and X ray chest may be required after a physical examination depending on the findings. Is there family history of bronchial asthma or allergy. Does your child have any history of other allergies like skin allergy etc?

Continue to ask further queries as required.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
