Child having chronic cough, throat clearing due to sinus infection. Removed adenoids recently. Inflammed voicebox due to cough?

Question regarding a child - 3 years old - chronic cough and throat clearing for almost a year - due to a chronic sinus infection . ENT put in tubes and removed adenoids this past week. He also looked at her voicebox - said it was inflamed. He wants to treat her with prevacid because he said it could be caused from reflux. COULD the inflammation be a result of the throat clearing and cough? I just hate to put her on the meds if the surgery could clear up the other issue.
