Child Has Vomiting, Loose Motion. Prescribed Emeset, ORS And Econorn. Right Medication?
Hi, My son is 2 years and 8 months old. He ate some pomegranate and Chinese noodles outside. Late night he started vomiting and threw everything he ate. I the morning he pooped twice and his motion was loose. This morning I took him to doctor and he has prescribed him Emeset syrup, Oral rehydration solution , Econorn sachet. Is this the right medication? Doctor said my son is having stomach infection. I want to knoew is this the right medication for the stomach problem?
Hi
Thank you for your query
Your child definitely seems to be suffering from gastroenteritis. That is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines. Whether it is infective or not can be told only from his blood and stool reports. But since he has no fever and no blood or mucus in stools, he seems to have no infection (bacterial) and in that case the medication prescribed appears to be alright. Take care to keep him hydrated and it should pass off. In case he develops fever or blood or mucus in stool, get back to your doctor. He may need an antibiotic in that case.
Take care.
