Child Has Vomiting, Gas, Stomach Pain And Diarrhea At Night. Could This Be From Milk?

My 15 mth old has been throwing up at least once a week for about a month all thru the night now for two days now she s had bad gas and pain in her tummy and diarrhea could this be from milk ? We took her to Er yesterday cause she thru up again and was having gas pain but they said she was healthy and coudlnt figure anything out. she s had milk every time right before she s gone to bed and this is when it starts about an hour after she s gone to bed. During the day when she has milk it doesn t happen only at night.

Hi,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

In a child with GERD vomiting may occur if the child lies down soon after consuming some thing.

So do not give your child any thing just before sleeping.

Your doctor after complete physical examination will do a lower esophageal Ph monitoring and if required a endoscopy to confirm the diagnosis.
The diarrhea that your child is having could be a viral infection. If there is pus or blood in the stool then we suspect dysentry and start the child on antibiotics.

Maintaining hydration is important in a child with diarrhea.
