Child Has Tonsillitis, Weight Loss, No Appetite, Vomiting. What To Do?

Hi my 10yr old daughter has been suffering from tonsillitis for the past year. She is now getting this around twice a month. She is loosing weight, has no appetite , vomits and is missing lots of school. Also I am having to take time off work as she is too unwell to be at school. It usually takes her 2 - 21/2 weeks to get over it. People are saying that they don t take out tonsils now - but I can t see her suffer like this. My doctor says the same. What do I do? Is this right? How long does she have to go through this? Please advise my, thanks Helen

General Surgeon 's  Response
Welcome to HCM
Greetings of the day
Tonsils can be taken out at any age if they are causing repeated symptoms. I am Pediatric Surgery and have referred around seven such cases of repeated tonsillitis to ENT( Ear Nose Throat) surgeon and have undergone Tonsillectomy. And believe me they are perfectly doing fine. Rest assured, she will definitely do fine. Consult an ENT Surgeon. Also try using warm Saline gargling and Betadaine Gargles.
Take Care
