Child Has Multiple Fractures. Has Low Vitamin D, Kidney Stone, High Platelets And High Neutrophils. Advice?

My son has suffered from multiple fractures. His Vitamin D levels have remained below 20 despite giving him supplements and making him go out in the sun for 30 minutes a day. He has been worked up for many metabolic bone diseases including OI, but all are negative. We recently took him to ER to find out that he had a kidney stone. His GPt was high, K was low along with the other blood tests that I am more familiar with...High sed rate, high platelets, high neutrophils, low lymphs. I'm not sure what the GPT is or how connected the kidney stone is to the fractures. (He fractured right tib/fib, both ulnas, left fib. verteb. compression fracture, and 3 right metacarpals)

Rheumatologist 's  Response
Hi !
Thank you for your query.
Well you need to mention the age of your child as metabolic bone diseases differ according to age group .Still has renal tubular acidosis been ruled is my query from you as the information that you have provided is incomplete so nothing can be said conclusively.

I would like you to consult an endocrinologist for the same as it requires immediate attention.

Hope you are satisfied with the answer.
If you have any further queries feel free to ask.
Wish you good health.
Take care.

Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Dr. Praveen Tayal's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The multiple fractures that he has had are associated with his low calcium and vitamin D3 levels. The kidney stones can be related to a metabolic disorder. He needs a direct clinical evaluation for further treatment plan.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
