Child Has Metallic Smelling Breath. Could It Be Due To Diabetes?

My daughter (age 3 and a 1/2) has weird-smelling breath lately? to me, it smells like metal. And it seems strong! I am a little concerned as I have heard different things that could be the cause? Diabetes is one. Is there any truth to that? is it something I should have her seen for? Another thing is heavy metals in her blood?

Pediatrician 's  Response
If diabetes has to cause abnormal odor she has to be in a condition called diabetic keto-acidosis. This is a serious condition and the patient is usually in coma. It is very unlikely. Is she taking lot of garlic. how is her oral hygiene? Instead of merely worrying it is better to get her examined by a doctor.
