dear reshma,
the child may be having infantile
colic that is quiet common in infancy.
the cause is generally not clear but many reasons have been postulated to cause this problem. few things you can do to prevent this are.
mother should avoid certain food items like carbonated beverages, caffeine containing drinks like coffee and tea. some vegetables like cabbage that may cause colic in infants
try to maintain a diary of of time table of the problem so that you can be prepared for the episode.
burp the child after every feed given and feed the child in head end elevated position. burping will remove the gas formed in the stomach or the ingested air, and it may relieve coilc.
you can try even a change of formula feed you are giving to the child and observe for any change.
the infantile colic is best dealt with patience and as the child approaches 1 year of age it tends to subside.
there are some preparations containing
simethicone and dill and fennel oil available with the pharmacist that may be available only with the prescription of a doctor. so you may ask the doctor prescribe any such medication if he thinks so.
may be these advices help you in tackling the problem,
thanks
amit
