Child Has Cough. Done Chest X Ray, Digital Radiography, Suggestive Of Para-hilar Infective Lesion, Ruled Out Koch's Infection. Suggest
Dear Doctor,
Please find below the X-Ray test of my 5 years old boy and suggest what to do next:
CLINICAL INFO: Cough.
Posteroanterior DR (Direct Digital Radiography) projection of chest is submitted.
REPORT:
Patchy opacity is seen in right distal and upper hilar region. Apices and CP angles are clear. The cardiac size is normal. Bony thorax appears intact.
IMPRESSION:
Above mentioned finding is suggestive of right para-hilar infective lesion (please rule out Koch’s infection). Clinical / lab. correlation is suggested.
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.
There are plenty of causes for the hilar node enlargement in child.
As radiologist suspected, it may be due to Koch's infection ( Tuberculosis). But fungal infections, Sarcoidisis, lymphoma are also possible. However, koch's infection is one of the common cause for hilar opacity in x ray chest.
I advise you for further work up like CT scan chest and MRI scan Chest. It will be helpful in diagnosis.
Please consult your treating doctor regarding this for further work up and treatment.
Hope this helps. Please reply for further queries. Wishing you good health.
