Child Has Constipation. Tried Floweez. Suggest Other Remedy
my 2 years old daughter has been suffering from severe constipation right after birth.(she is our adopted child and could not be breast fed). We tried laxative FLOWEEZ on recommendation from pediatrician but it worked on and off. We tried giving her soups /liquids etc but to no avail. 3 months back ,some friend suggested to give LAXOPEG from FOURTTS. It had a miraculous effect and since then she is passing stools with ease. The sachet contains 17 gram of polyethyline glycol 3350 and we give her only 1/3 of the sachet almost daily. Please advise if it could have some complications. Also ,please suggest other remedy. With thanks and regards Ravinder
Constipation is basically a nutritrional issue once other causes have been excluded. It is better to address the nutrition first rather then resorting to medication as the child will get habituated to the medicine.

Hi
Thanks for your query
Chronic constipation needs to be evaluated.Hypothyroidism needs to ruled out, dietary factors play most important part.
Laxatives should not be given for long time.i suggest to do dietary modifications, increase fibre in her diet.give her plenty of fluids, fruit, salad, green leafy vegetables.avoid all kinds of fried food and junk
food.
