Child Has Cold And Cough. Should I Give Fenistil?

Hi Doctor.. My daughter is 4 months +. last month she had suffered from blocked nose and cough . Doctor had prescribed Fenistill and Nose drops. This month again she has got cold and little cough ( as my son -5 years had cold and cough) Should I be continuing the same medicine or shud I be switching to something else. I am really worried as she has got this for the second time in 1 month gap. How can I improve her Immune system . Waiting for ur reply. Thanks

Hi Pratibha,
Thanks for your reply.

You have not mentioned the name of the nasal drops.

Fenistil contains antiallergic medicine Dimethindene and can be given for allergic cold and cough after geting her examined by her Paediatrician.

Normal saline nasal drops can be used as they are safer to use.

At the age of 4 months, you can increase her immunity by getting her properly vaccinated and giving her proper feeds. Immunity will increase with her age.

I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
