Child Has Bumps On Face And Dry Lips. Had Cold And Fever. Impetigo Symptoms?

My child 5 yr old daughter has 2 bumps that look like pimples or small blisters on her face near her mouth. The first appeared within minutes 2 nights ago snow sledding outside and the other appeared this afternoon. She also has very dry, honey crusted lips (top and bottom). She recently had a severe head cold with coughing, mild fever, and congestion. She still is congested. Could this be impetigo?

Hi, Thanks for posting your query

You are right , this could be impetigo which occurs due to same bacteria which cause cold . IT is common to see in children and there is honey coloured crusting

You need to start her with oral antibiotic after a review with a doctor

For the lips you may do the following:

Warm saline compresses followed by application of local antibiotic like Mupirocin
keep the lips moist by a medicated lip balm
Advise her to avoid licking of the lips

Hope this helps you
