Child Got Mouth Sore. What Is The Proper Treatment?

Hello, my sone has today conttracted a school sore . We have taken him to the doctor and is now on a treatment oral for the infection. My questions to help with the healing of the sore/s. During the day is it best to leave them uncovered to try and dry them out as to speak? Is there a cream that is also suggested to treat them with? Many thanks, Patrick

HELLO,

Your son suffers from recurrent aphthous ulcers.l

This can be treated with vitamin-becosules supplements.

-oral corticosteroids administration
-steroid ointment ,1.5%cortisone acetate ,can be locally applied.

-iron,zinc,folic acid supplements can be administered.

-please avoid food precipitating allergy.

--be careful while toothbrushing,to avoid toothbrush injury causing ulcers.
-meanwhile-food with highly nutrition has to be taken

Dentist Dr. Neha Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for sharing your concern with us
Most mouth ulcers don't require specific treatment. They usually heal naturally.
Self-help tips
•Use a soft toothbrush when brushing your teeth.
•Avoid eating hard foods, such as toast, and stick to soft foods that are easier to chew.
•Avoid eating foods that have triggered an ulcer in the past.
•Reduce your stress levels by doing an activity that you find relaxing, such as yoga, meditation or exercise.
If your ulcer has a specific cause, such as a sharp tooth cutting the inside of your cheek, it will usually heal naturally once the cause has been treated.

hi and welcome ,

MOuth ulcers or sores seen on the oral mucosa are mainly caused due to deficiency of vitamins B , stress related ulcers , apthous ulcers , ulceration due to physical or chemical trauma.

mouth ulcers can be treated effectively by SYMPTOMATIC treatment.

Use antiseptic mouth rinse like chlorhexidine for oral rinsing and gargling which prevents infection and gives soothing effect.

start with multivitamin supplements and vitamin C lozenges two times daily for about 7 to 10 days which helps in quick healing .

apply oral antiseptic analgesic ointment like Dentogel topically over the ulcerated area.

Oral ulcers heal within 7 to 10 days provided they are not super infected so maintain good oral hygiene.

i hope this you ,
take care.
