Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query,
The episode you described is a fit and it is called Partial seizure mostly complex partial seizures.
In partial seizures, CT scan brain plain and with contrast is required to rule out any intracranial lesions causing focal fits to be ruled out.
You have to continue the oxetol as advised by your doctor and it is usually continue for 2 to 3 years depending on seizure free interval and should be tapered aftre 3 years if there are no fits according to your doctor advise.
There are few side effects like blood cell count abnormality, skin problems like steven jhonson syndrome.
Your child should be in regular follow up and should be compliant with drug therapy.
Hope I have answered your query.
