Child. Ptosis In Left Eye, Uncontrollable Hard Blinking In Right Eye, Looking Like Spasm In Right Eye. Serious?

My granddaughter is 9 1/2 years old and has ptosis in her left eye and recently started having uncontrolable hard blinking in the right eye only. The right eye looks like there is a spasm occuring in the right eyelid, causing the eye the completely shut very hard (Like a squint). This occurs mant times before it stops for a while. Could this symptom be fatique or a more serious medical problem?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello,
It seems from the history that your grand daughter is having ptosis and the complaints which you have mentioned in the history like spasm point towards jaw winking phenomenon seen in a syndrome called as Marcus gunn jaw winkling syndrome.
However nothing to worry it can be corrected by appropriate surgery. Hence I advice you to consult ophthalmologist or oculoplastic surgeon for further evaluation and treatment.
Thank you
