Child. Prescribed Miralax For Intestinal Blockage In 2 Spots. Time To Recover?

My 3year old granddaughter was prescribed Miralax for intestinal blockages in two spots. The prescribing ER doctor said it could take three months for the blockage to loosen completely in both sections. Seeing how it the blockage has probably been there for a while already, causing pain, isn't three months a bit much? Is Miralax safe for a blockage and for that length if time? Is it any safer than doing nothing?
