Child. Overweight, Grew 5 Inches In A Year, Voracious Appetite. No Help From Medication By Endocrinologist To Curb Appetite. Concerning?

Thank you.....I have a ten year old granddaughter who grew 5 inches last year and is very much overweight. Her 8 siblings are small in stature and weight. She has had a voracious appetite since birth. She has been to an endocrinologist, last November (2012) who agreed to put her on a mild medicine to curb her appetite. There has been very little change. She just seems to be getting bigger and bigger. I'm very concerned. Should I be?

Hi, if she is growing 5 inches per year, she should be under strict supervision of the endocrinologist, as there could be pitutary involvement,if only weight is the problem, still she needs supervision but period varies, it could be a hypothyroidism. Thank you.
