Child. Fever With Persistant Cough. Reduced Appetite, Refused To Intake Food Or Liquids. On Paracetamol. Suggestions?

Hi my name is Olivia - my 3 year old son has had a temperature of around 38.2 the last 3 days along with a persistent cough - the last 2 days he has refused any solid food and today is refusing any liquids - I have given him paracetamol the last couple of nights to help him settle at sleep time - any suggestions would be appreciated

Hello Good Evening,

Now you have sufficient time elapsed since his illness, so you should go to your GP for proper examination and management.

Probably there might be a throat infection, might be Acute tonsillitis or Acute Pharyngitis, but will reach only after proper examination.

Now your son must be get following investigations done:

CBC, ESR, CRP, X-ray Chest.

Poor oral acceptance is not a good sign for any kind of illness, so you should rush to GP and get son admitted in the hospital if needed, because i.v. fluids and i.v. antibiotics may be needed.
