Child. Constant Pain In Knee When Straightening. Detected Growing Pins. Advice

My 6 year old daughter has been complaining of knee pain. It is just in one knee...and seems to hurt only when she straightens it. It has gotten to the point where she does not want to ride her bike because it begins to hurt. The doctor said it was most likely growing pins but it has been going on for a couple of months now.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

It is not looking like typical growing pain.

Growing pains present as leg cramps, usually during nights when there is no activity in limbs.

With activity and stretching of the limbs, the pain will subside.

Was there any trauma?

Basic investigations like X ray to be done to detect any underlying problem.

Consult the orthopedic surgeon also to know the cause for pain.

For pain, you can give ibuprofen in prescribed dose with food.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
