Chest X-ray Shows Pulmonary Hyperaeration, Lump On Ribs. What Type Of Doctor Should We See?

Hi. My husband recently had a chest xray (he has painful, large armpit lump) Results of xray were pulmonary hyperaeration. Also has a lump on opposit rib - xray said possible shadow nipple - this lump is not large or painful. He does not have health insurance and we would like to know what type of doctor he should see as we are paying out of pocket and we cannot afford to keep paying for visits with no results. Thank you.

Hello
As your husband has an armpit lump, I presume chest X-Ray has been done to rule out the possibility of tuberculosis.First an antibiotic course will be needed for him. If there is no response to antibiotic then further investigation may be required to rule out tuberculosis.
Hyperaeration in chest X ray suggest some kind of obstructive airway disease.
I would suggest you to consult a general physician for proper evaluation and treatment.

Pulmonologist Dr. Arnab Maji's  Response
Hi
Thanks for your query
Hyperaeration indicates peripheral air trapping which may be due to COPD due to smoking.
Lump may be because of nipple shadow but as there is a swelling in armpit also we need to exclude malignancy by doinf atleast an FNAC from arm pit mass as well as from rib lesion.
You need to consult a pulmonologist, get yourself locally examined and get treated properly.
Thank you.
