Chest tightness, pain in rib cage, soreness, feeling of something stuck in throat while eating. Causes and treatment?

I feel like someone is standing on my chest/rib cage. Ive had it for a few days now. Sometimes it eases off and sometimes its really sore. I can breath well through my air ways but if i eat it feels like there is a piece of food stuck even though im sure there isn t (as i would be choking and having my asthma symptons). best way i can describe is it feels like someone is sitting on my chest.

Hello rellie36. Thanks for visiting I am unsure of your sex and your age and the actual location of your pain, as you do not mention these. However, this type of pain is a concern for heart disease. A lot of patients who end up with heart disease complain of a pain that is "like an elephant sitting on my chest".

It appears that your pain is similar to this if there is "someone standing on your chest". I would advise that you go to your nearest emergency room for evaluation.

Be well, Dr. Kimberly
