Hello my name is john and I am 34 years old 5' 10" and 210 lbs. I have terrible chest pains when I work lifting anything, changing a tire ,pulling to crank a lawnmower ect. This started about three months ago and has progressed worst. I have high blood pressure and am not currently take my meds. My father and his before died before the age of 45 due to plaque build-up in the heart. I get short of breath and weak doing any strenuous activities. I do smoke and drink and feel like crap 90% of the time. The pain starts in the middle of my chest and works to both sides as long as I stop it will go away but come right back as I work. It has made me non functional. Please your advice my save me. Sincerely john

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello, Mr. John
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Since your weight is 210 lbs , height 5'10" . Father and uncle both died due to heart disease.
Smoking , drinking , over weight, family history , exertion breathlessness , mild chest pain , high blood pressure all these are predisposing factor of heart disease ( coronary artery disease) .
You are very prone to this disease.
1 May be angina pectoris ( precursor of heart attack) , diagnosis can be confirmed by E C HO , treadmill test, angiography . consult a cardiologist and take treatment .
2 Lack of stamina due to overweight , so get in blood for hemoglobin and protein level ,
3 Acute gastritis , again due to hyper acidity , diagnosis can be confirmed by upper G I endoscopy .
In my opinion at once try reduce weight , control your diet ( avoid spicy , greasy food, smoking, alcohol).
Cardiologist consultation will help.
Good luck. Dr. HET
