Chest Pain, Tests For Heart And Lung Normal. What To Do?

This is on behalf of my son who has for some time been experiencing chest pains around his heart on his left side almost constantly, he was admitted to hospital where they did every test associated with heart or lung problem and came up with there was nothing wrong and discharged him. That was March 2012 but he is still feeling pain so where to from here please? He is 26 years old and other than that in good health. Thankyou.

If all tests related to various organs involved in causing chest pain have been done and are normal, i feel it could be a musculoskeletal pain. Does he do some heavy physical activity or did he injure himself in the past? You may try giving him a pain killer and a muscle relaxant for some time along with some local heat or diathermy treatment. If symptoms persist. consult a rheumatologist and orthopedician.
