Chest Coughing, Congestion, Mucus And Blood, Sinus Cold. Taking Mucinex Tablets. Consult Doctor?
I've had a very sudden onset of chest coughing, congestion, and at first very little mucous being coughed up.
Sometimes coughing so hard a streak of blood, as if my throat had been cut may be mixed in with yellow/green mucous. About 50% of time mucous is clear; 50% green; a rarely a streak of blood. This went on for 3 days; on 4th day a sinus cold developed. Have used a nettie pot rinse bringing relief to sinuses/nostrils when they get stuffed and am now on 2nd day of Mucinex (600mg guaifenesin extended release bi-layer tablets). Should I wait this out a few more days or should I see a Dr. asap?

Considering your symptoms it is clear you are having respiratory tract infection involving your sinuses, throat and lungs. Though you are taking mucinex tab but this is not sufficient to treat you.
I would like to suggest you that for planning your infection you should go for these investigations-
(1) C.T. scan of paranasal sinuses.
(2) X-Ray chest.
(3) Culture & sensitivity of phlegm.
(4) Blood- CBC, ESR, blood sugar ( F & PP ).
Beside this a thorough examination of your nose, throat and chest and co-relation of findings with inferences of above investigations one may reach to final diagnosis and that may be accordingly plan for treatment.
