Chest And Arm Pain, Uncomfortable

Hi I ve been getting pain in my chest . It started late August with sharp pains on my right below the breast . When I first felt it it was at night and I was trying to sleep and thought it would be gone by morning. I felt the pain again during the next day and intermittently since and nothing I can identify as triggering it. Once when I was lying down and I got really uncomfortable pain that I felt in the back of my chest. Also the sharp pain at the side of my chest changed and I started to feel it when I put/stretched my arm up. The side pain seems to have stopped but now I get this twinge pain in the centre of my chest when I lean/bend forward.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us on HCM.
Your pain is poorly localised and i think this pain is pleuritic though its very unusual to have a central pain in pleurisy. But character of pain is like that. I advise you to consult a pulmonologist to get yourself locally examined to get any other findings on your chest and to look for tenderness on your pain sites. Along with this you should have to undergo some tests primarily.
These are -
1. chest x-ray PA view
2. ECG
Along with this you may have a trial of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen 400 mg twice daily for 7 days and look for improvement. If the pain persists its unusual to be pleuritic chest pain. Further tests should be directed upon the availability of those two tests.
Thank you.
