Chalky taste in right side of jaw, brushing and flossing regularly. Due to tobacco intake?

Hello, I have a concerning new development in my mouth. Its seems that the right side of my lower jaw (the gums inside the tongue area right side only) have a weird chalky like taste. I dip tobacco only twice a week (A habit I m trying to kick.) This has gone for two days now, it seems today it is slowly starting to go away but I dont know what it could be. I brush and floss regularly.

Thanks for the query.

I will try to work on the questions that you have today but I would like to know few more things as this would help me in suggesting you better.
1. Is there any colour change?
2. Any bleeding from the area?

Most common cause of patch in the mouth is lichen planus. Other causes to be ruled out includes leukoplakia and candida infection. For any confirmed diagnosis, a complete physical examination by a dentist is required. Please make an appointment to get it examined.
Tobacco chewing or smoking can be a dangerous cause to various oral diseases. Try to avoid the habit completely.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dentist Dr. Yogesh Tripathi's  Response
use of tobacco may lead to various premalignant lesion and conditions including leukoplakia ,lichen planus, oral sub mucous fibrosis etc etc
as per your description , the chalky taste may by due to tobacco
so what i would suggest is that you pay a visit to your dentist and get a complete oral examination done to find out the exact cause
in the mean while to reduce the symptoms i would suggest that you do the following
1.luke warm saline rinses 4-6 times daily
2.gum astringent like oracep ,take a drop of the astringent on your clean index finger and apply to the affected site after every rinse
3.zinc ,vitamin(especially vitamin c ) and folic acid supplements will be also useful
having said that i would also suggest that you stop using tobacco as it may lead to further complications
hope this helps
