Cause of low platelet count (77), enlarged spleen and liver and vomiting? Can arthritis cause this?
does arthritis or arthritis medicine usually cause low platelet count (77), enlarged spleen and liver and vomiting? We're waiting for further testing (ct scan and bone marrow test in two weeks) Can you tell me what this seems to indicate and how serious it is?
HI Thank for asking to HCM No the arthritis and the medicine you are taking for arthritis is not the cause of lowering the platelet count, it could be ,Idiopathic cytopanic pupura, and may be other blood related disorders that need be differentiate with one another and for that clinical examination and other blood work is necessary, take care have nice day.

Hi babes !! I am a super cuddly 60 year old Grandma, who is ex-services....and, in my day, the Royal Navy floated on a Sea of alcohol !!! Both my husband and myself like a drink....but we re NOT talking drunken silliness.....far too old for that !!! My husband knows, as I do , that he s on borrowed time , due to kidney/bladder cancer and MAJOR heart problems. He s recently gained a Heart pacemaker / defibbulater/ plus an extra wire added for fluid retention, as he also suffers from psoriacis ( feet ) plus anything else you could possibly think about. THIS GETTING OLD LARK IS CRAP !!!! Anyway, obviously this situation is stressful, but I m not excussing myself. I m disabled myself, double patellectomy & major arthritis flaming everywhere, so I take heavy duty painkillers ( oxynorm 5mg 3 x 4 times a day ). I had an upper abdo. scan today, & found that my liver ( understand that ) and SPLEEN are enlarged. I know from a recent blood test, that my platelets are down, so I m one hell of a bleeder , but please, what is going on with this spleen thing....as in causes, prognosis, and whatever wisdom you can impart please ? Thank you in anticipation !!!!
I had a CT scan recently and all my organs and lymph nodes are good with the exception of my Spleen is enlarged. I got my blood results that indicated high white blood cell count, normal red blood cell count, platelets are low. I have some bruises. No fever. I feel fine. A month ago I found out that I had an abscessed tooth. The doctor was able to save my tooth and do a root canal. Is it possible that my abscessed tooth that was real bad contributed to my Spleen enlargement and my blood results. If so, could this be in early stages of Sepsis or something else? I am looking for the right Doctor who can maybe treat me in the Ventura or LA county area. Thank you

My father has an enlarged spleen along with lymphoma. Over the last couple of months he has lost lots of weight, and has just been referred back to the heamotoligist. However, the last week or so, he has chronic diarrhea, constant tiredness along with a heavy feeling in his tummy.
Could this be connected to the spleen and lymphoma problem?
my little girl is 3 years old and she has had test done over the last 4 months but the doctor will not give any staight answers so I was hoping you could help. She has a swollen spleen. the ultrasound had these findings There is cavernous transformation of the portal vein with 2 primary portal veins in the porta heptis. Marked narrowing of the splenic vein at the juction with the recanalized portal venous collaterals is present surggesting also prior splenic vein thrombosis. There are numerous collateral vesels including portal, esophageal, spleenorenal, mesenteric, gastric and pancreaticoduodenal venous channels. Marked splenomegaly measures approximately 13.6 cm in the longitudinal dimension. The internal architecture enhances homogeneously. The left kidney is compressed. No other abnomality of the kidneys is identified. the liver is not appreciably enlarged and has smooth contours. The pancreas and adrenal are normal. The doctor only would state that we needed to come back in another 9 weeks. Is there anything you can tell me to under stand what is needed for her or what to expect. thanks
