Cause For Sudden Decrease In Medicine Reaction?

My husband has been on Prozac for about 2 years now. The last 4-5 days it seems like it is not working. He is feeling many of the same fears, paranoia, and anger that he had felt prior to being on it. Does it make sense that it would suddenly stop working? He is training for a marathon and has dramatically increased his physical activity. Could that be the problem?

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hi
Thanks for using healthcare magic

Few patient while on antidepressants switch into manic episode. That may be the reason in case of your husband. Sudden change in mood, behavior and physical activity will go towards manic switch. I think, you should take him to a psychiatrist for his mental status examination as soon as possible.

Thanks
