Cause For Stomach Pain Which Radiates To The Back?
Hi my name is Victoria....recently I've been having a pain in the upper left side of my stomach area. It comes and goes. But when it's present it's almost debilitating. I need to change positions if I'm sitting or standing. The pain radiates toward my back and is very uncomfortable. Can you tell me what structure is there and what the problem could possibly be? Thank you Dr.

Hello, Thanks for your query. From the above information, it is suggestive of acute gastritis. I will suggest that you try over the counter omeprazole for symptoms control. If they should fail to resolve within 3-5days, then please meet and discuss with your primary healthcare doctor for a more detailed interrogation, examination and maybe investigations if need be. This would help look at other structures like the pancreas and liver that can also present with this similar pain in a smaller proportion. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
