Cause for nausea during and after having food?

Hello, for years now I have nausea during and after eating and a lot of times when I m not eating. I wake up with bad indigestion every day and suffer all day with it whether I eat or not. A lot of times it feels like something is stuck. I ve had my gallbladder checked and it functions properly. I was told I do have a fatty liver. I ve lost about 15 pounds since November without trying because of the nausea and not being able to finish eating. Could it be possible that I have a food allergy even though I don t have to eat to feel bad? I also have bloody stools and lately loose bowels almost not making it to the bathroom. I ve had 2 colonoscopies with normal results. I could go on but I think this is enough to start with.

Hi,

Nausea during and after eating, even while not eating for a longer period of time, unexplained weight loss, diarrhea and blood in stool recently and such symptoms as you have mentioned may be due to the following reasons:

Liver function problems.
Gastritis related issues.
Intestinal problems causing reflex nausea.
Psychological factors.

This can be diagnosed in the following ways: Consult a Gastroenterologist for clinical evaluation and an actual examination. Colonoscopy is already normal hence get the upper GI Endoscopy. Barium studies or CT Enteroclysis.

Tests of blood for CBC, diabetes, liver and pancreatic functions along with kidney and thyroid functions. Tests of stool for 3 days helps a lot. All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and helps in proper management. Per-rectal digital examination and ano-proctoscopy to see for hemorrhoid as you have blood in stool.

Take a course of a PPI like Pantoprazole. Domperidone helps a lot for nausea. Antacids if there is acidity related problems. Rest of the treatment as per the cause found.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant,
General Surgeon

For the past four months I have been getting weird stomach problems the week after my period. It starts with this weird bubbling in my throat, and just an awareness that I have a stomach. I wouldn t call it nausea. I just feel my stomach. I also become exhausted during this period, and just feel generally crummy. This progresses to having diahrea, and I can t keep anything in my stomach. After about a week, it goes away. I should clarify that I am at very healthy body weight, I exercise, and I eat very healthy food. I have cut out all spicy food. That hasn t done anything. Also, I am not on any type of medication. I have tried omeprazole and byaten(?). They were no help.

Hi, I m 14 1/4 weeks pregnant with my second baby. This pregnancy I ve got off pretty lightly with nausea compared to last time (this time I just felt sick for around 1/2 hour a day from weeks 7-9, but then felt fine since. I do quite often still feel faint in the morning, but this usually goes away after having breakfast. I haven t vomited last pregnancy despite feeling much more sick. This pregnancy I hadn t either until today! I felt more faint than usual this morning. It seemed to improve after a couple of small chocolate squares. At 12:15 I started feeling a bit sick, and by 2 I vomited once. I ve felt really weak since but not sick. I ve eaten some dinner but just don t have an appetite as big as normal. I feel faint if I stand for too long. I m worried I have got something that could affect my unborn baby? Could it be listeriosis? I ve got no flu like symptoms though, just those described above, and I m super careful with food and hygiene at the moment. Does this sound like an illness or late morning sickness? Hopefully someone could help as I m worried and searching online is not helping.

I have been taking trulicity for 4 weeks now. I am so nauseated that I can barely work. Is this normal? I had used Bayetta and could not hold food down. Victoza worked well but my insurance company will not let me have it. Also it seems that the side effects of Trulicity peak out during the middle of the cycle. Is this normal?

I have a translanted kidney in my lower abdomen. I had an ultrasound recently where they found mild pelvicaliectasis. They also found a 3mm x 3mm polyp in my gall baldder. I see a surgeon next week to discuss options regarding the polyp, and I'll discuss the pelvicaliectasis with my nephrologist at the next visit. But, in an efort to learn a little more about these issues now, are either of these things I need to worry about?
