I had 28 days of proton therapy for prostate cancer july 2013. 2 weeks ago i saw blood while urinating. I went to my family doctor. She took blood sample and urine sample. My PSA is continuing to go down. Currently at 1.99. Urine sample showed bacteria in the urine Doctor has me taking Ciprofloxacin twice per day 500mg. I havent seen blood in urine since 2 weeks ago. Now today while urinating I saw blood. Could there be some other cause?.
Hello and welcome to HCM. As an Urologist, i can understand your concern. Blood in urine isn't normal. There has to be a cause, which needs to be identified. There could be recurrent/residual UTI.(urinary infection). You'll need to check your urine culture, blood creatinine, sugar, and an ultrasound scan of the abdomen. Hope your Urologist has done a rectal examination. Depending on the reports, if the bleeding continues, you'll be advised a cystoscopy test/ CT scan, to know the source of bleeding. You can contact me for an expert opinion. Dr.Matthew J. Mangat.
