My doctor had me do a non-fasting chlorestoral test and the results were in the 500 s he said. He said my bad chlorestoral was so high it was off the charts and my good chlorestoral was so low that it too was off the charts. He did not put me on any medication but rather told me to change my diet first to see what happens. I was floored by the results and asked him if we should do a fasting test. He responded no, that in his opinion, fasting tests are not helpful. Any advice? I m concerned that I m a heart attack waiting to happen. BTW, I am a 56-year-old female with a family history of high chlorestoral and heart disease.
