Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.
I can understand your concern. Epileptic fits can occur in normal person after
:
Sleep deprivation like in your case
: Low glucose - skipping of meal
: Prolonged bright light exposure
: Past history of
head injury : Deficiency of calcium, magnesium and other electrolytes
: Ingestions of abusing drugs like Cocaine
In your case, there were two positive points - sleep deprivation and low glucose. It might be the reason behind occurrence of seizures. It is good that your EEG and MRI reports are normal and your fits are under control. It means you have great chances of complete resolution of fits. You must take
levetiracetam tablets for at least 3 years to effectively control seizures. 3 year seizure free patient is considered as "Cured". Follow few tips
Do not self medicate antiepiletic medication.
Ask doctor before increasing or discontinuing medication.
Avoid direct bright light exposure like on laptop/TV/computer/mobile
Avoid skipping meal. Take balanced diet to treat any deficiency.
Avoid mental stress/severe physical exertion.
Avoid driving or works which require high concentration.
Avoid alcohol/any
substance abuse.
Hope it can help you. Thanks. Take care. If still in doubt, do let me know.
