Can Weight Loss Surgery Will Help To Reduce Weight?
Good Day, I am 53 years old height 5.5 1/2 weight 219lbs BMI 35 in fairly good health, no blood pressure, sugar, or cholesterol issues apart from my weigh. I would like to know if the lap ban weight loss surgery - am I a candidate for this surgery to lose weight Shayron
Good day to you too. The selection criteria for weight loss surgery ( bariatric surgery) is that you should have a BMI of over 40 or BMI above 35 with other co-morbid conditions like diabetes. So don't be disappointed that you do not qualify for the bariatric surgery. However don't be disappointed. You can lose weight gradually if you take a low calorie wholesome diet, exercise and adopt stress relieving measures. If you reduce 1000 calories per day from your present diet, you would lose 1 kg in weight per week. You should do some isometric ( muscle building) exercises so that your Basal Metabolic Rate ( BMR) is kept high because with dietary restrictions, the BMR tends to slow down. Some times people tend to bing eat when stressed. If you have this problem, you should learn some stress relieving measures like yoga. Wishing you good luck in your effort to reduce weight. I am available if you have further queries. Dr. Noble Zachariah
