Can Viral Gastroenteritis Cause Elevated Liver Enzymes?

I recently caught a lower gi virus from my child and I vomited and had diarrhea and gas for a few days. I then had a physical and my blood tests showed elevated liver enzymes. Could the virus be the cause? My Dr wants to repeat my tests in 2 weeks.

Hi and welcome.Viral gastroenteritis is not common cause of elevated liver enzymes and if this is just mild elevation, you can wait and repeat test in few week.if there is significant elevation you should do tests to rule out viral hepatitis or Gilbert disease.
wish you good health.Regards
