Can vertigo be prevented?

34/M/84 kg/5 6 .....I am a patient of severe vertigo, so is my Mom,Right now I am on medication......Di-menhydranate+cinnarazine combination. I do physiotherapy Off and on. Doctor says that I have no other remedy than do physio all over life time. I am fed up of this. Any other permanent remedy??? Please help

Hi.

I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.

Vertigo due to neck or head injury might last permanently and other causes can be treated. As u already on treatment, I advice you to continue the same. Also,
- Bed rest in dark, quiet room.
- Inj. Calmpose l mL(10 mg) IM twice daily ( if episodes are repeated)
- Inj. Stemetil 1ml I.M stat
- Avoid excessive salt and water
- Avoid jerky movements.
- Do labyrinthine exercises after the giddiness stops.

Vertigo due to inner ear changes resulting from minor causes can be cured & those due to neck or brain injury lasts permanently. As you are already on medication, I advice you to continue the same. Also,
- Bed rest in dark, quiet room.
- Inj. Calmpose l mL(10 mg) IM twice daily.
- Inj. Stemetil 1ml I.M stat ( injections can be taken during repeated episodes)
- Avoid excessive salt and water
- Avoid jerky movements.
- Do labyrinthine exercises after the giddiness stops.
