Can Use Of Antibiotic Lead To Delayed Periods?

Hi, I really need some help here. I m on vacations at PR because I live at Orlando, FL but I came to visit my family here for 2 months. I had a sexual act but he didn t penetrate but I was on top of him with underwear. That happened on June, I passed my period back then (June 17). On June 16 I assist to the Dr because I had an ear infection and he gave to me Cephalexin, could that antibiotic be the reason I have lost my period or I could be pregnant?

I read your query and i appreciate your concern regarding this issue.

There can be other reasons of delay in menstural cycle, medications as well.

To be pregnant, 2 criteria should be fulfilled:
1. Fusion of sperm with ovum to form a fertilized ovum.
2. Implantation of the fertilized ovum in the Uterus.
As per details there was no penetration so there are less chances of pregnancy.
There is no need to worry, you can wait till you get your periods.
If they are delayed more than 3 weeks, a Pregnancy test can be done to confirm it.
In case of pregnancy, it will give a positive result within one week.
I will suggest you to avoid unprotected intercourse if you do not want pregnancy.
In case of overdue of your cycle, go for pregnancy test and consult with your Gynaecologist.
