Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Can Type 2 diabetes be totally reversed? I was diagnosed with this disease but I changed my eating habits and I do not take medication -- My doctor was amazed! My blood sugar levels stay around an average of 110. I eat right and take supplements. Thanks
Good question, it is not totally reversible..but u can control it with life style modification if it is in the early stage.. always better to get FBS WITH HBA1C to confirm the control of diabetes..if u can keep your Fasting blood sugar < 130 and post prandial blood sugar < 160 with HbA1C <7.0 with ur life style modification( exercise and diet control) u are in the safe side.but u have to follow up the blood sugar values regularly to keep it under control..Make sure it is in the safe zone always because DM is a silent attacker..Daily you have to walk minimum 30min. Always eat food with low glycemic index and glycemic load...check blood sugar once in a month...keep under target level..if it is going above the particular level better u consult a diabetologist for further management.
