Can touching the mouth after using Triamcinolone cream cause a canker sore on the lips?

my son just start using triamcinolone today for a rash on his arms. I just noticed that his lower lip is extremely swollen and it looks like a canker sore on his inside lip. If he touched his mouth with this cream on his hands could it have caused this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per your query of canker sore on lips, my advice is -

1. It is not possible for Triamcinolone gel to cause such lesion.
2. Topical Triamcinolone is probably a healing agent of canker sore, so it is less likely to cause it.
3. It maybe either due to vitamin deficiency or allergy.
4. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily and multivitamin tablets.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

I have a ulcer looking sore that started on the inside of my mouth (just on the moist part of my lower lip). It was a yellowish white in colour with with a red outline around it. The yellowish centre was not fluid it was more like a covering. There was no itching, burning or tingling before it appeared. The night before it came up i had some really salty food then the next morning it was there and after that it was really sore it hurt if i talked too much. Its now nearly gone after only 7 days. I thought it could possibly be a canker sore as i have had them before but usually on my upper lip, however even though the original ulcer started on the inside of my mouth it spread slightly to th dry area where my lips touch. Could this still be a canker sore?

Hello, I think I may have a gum boil but I am not sure. I have been researching for a couple of hours. I looked at canker sores and mouth ulcers and it seems most like a gum boil. I have had this place on my top right gum for about a month. One day I tasted blood badley and it felt like maybe it was from that. I have accidently drained the pus out of the pocket. I was trying to see what it looks like and felt like just to figure it out. once i did that I tried to get all the pus out. Then it looked like a flat piece of skin that was hanging from the gum but very small in size. It has been about 20 minutes and it seems to be getting larger again, maybe with more pus, im not sure. I have never had anything on my gums or mouth before. However I have had a root canal before that I never got the crown for due to financial difficulty. My dentist referred me to a specialist about a year ago, but I have been unable to go, about 5 months ago the rest of my tooth that never got crowned came out it pretty much all broke off. I know I need to get this fixed but I havent been able to. But the tooth that had the root canal and then broke off is on the same side of my mouth but it on my bottom teeth. The pocket or place is above my right teeth at the very top of my gum. I am the type that washes my hands continually and now every time I touch my mouth. I am also afraid because I have two children that sometimes come behind me and drink after to me. I have told them not too especially now since there is something going on in my mouth. Can you please give your advice? I am so afraid of it being a canker sore or something or even this I dont know whats worse. Thank you

I recently had my teeth cleaned. The next day I began to experience discomfort in my mouth in the areas of my palette and tongue. I returned to the dentist after 2 weeks and was told that I was experiencing pain from canker sores. The canker sores have moved from one side of my mouth to the other and I believe they are on my tongue. Eating and talking are painful and difficult. I am currently using triamcinolone acetonide dental paste. Because it is topical and disappears quickly there is not much relief. Why would I be having such a string on canker sores in such unusual places? There was actually a knot on my bottom palette at the start. Thank you.
