My blood pressure is excellent, but I woke up last night with a pulse rate of 111. my husband stated go to the ER. My EKG was good, the heart monitor was good, it went down to 87, 82, but I do have a thyroid problem, think that could be the problem. The doctor also stated I had a heart mummer?? that was new :( but can you help me. Then she stated they may be given me to much thyroid medication.

Hello,
Thank you for asking on HCM!
From your description i can understand that you are being treated with levothyroxine for a low active thyroid.
Normally you should check the thyroid hormones every 6 months when you are under treatment to avoid and over or under dosage of levothyroxine.
You need to check:
-TSH,FT4 and FT3 and adjust the dose of levothyroxine.

my resting heart rate is normaly around 60 to 70.....but for the last couple of months it has been falling into the lower 50 s. i suffer from anxiety which i just started taking xanax for.( 1mg daily). i was concerned for my heart rate so i talked to my doctor. he told me it was just my anxiety and not to worry about it. a week later after being very tired for a few days straight and waking with my heart rate at 47 i went to the er. they ran every test that they could.... thyroid, supplement deficiency, ekg, checked my heart enzymes, x-ray, and a couple of others. all came back normal. all they could say is that i had sinus bradycardia. my question is even though my doc says i am fine and all the test come back normal, should i see a cardiologist just to make sure there is not a underline problem with my heart? i just think it is funny how all of a sudden my resting heart rate has dropped so much. thank you!!!

Two years ago I had RAI Therapy 11 mCi for Graves desease. 3 months later I was euthyroid and felt fine. My doctor told me do have control of thyroid function for 3 months . 2 months later I was in a very bad condition . MY TSH was 75 . During begining of levothyroxin therapy I started to feel severe paresthesias and neuropatic pain. Now I am euthyroid on levothyroxin therapy , but diagnosed with small fiber polyneuropaty. I am very sick and have constant generalised neuropathic pain. Du you have experience what happens with patients after RAI therapy without levothyroxine supplementation in time.

I am a Ph.D. chemist, ~50, have been taking thyroid medication since 1995, Since switching from T4 only to T3/T4 (25ug/75ug), I have seen a big improvement in cognition and then on switching to T3 (50ug) only (done this myself for just the past 3 days see and even better improvement when it comes to my attention span. In addition, I take meds for depression & anxiety. I have not experienced any unpleasant side effects of T3 only besides a little diarrhea--is this OK? ( I think somehow, my body has a greatly diminished ability to covert T4 to T3).
