Can There Be Sleep Disorders Due To Imbalance In Thyroid Level?

60 years male. Was taking eltroxin 125 for over 20 years. got a blood test done. Reports were normal. Stopped taking the medication for 10 days and went in for a test. T3 and T4 were normal but TSH shot up to 39. Am no taking Eltroxin 50 Mg. Is that sufficient? Also I am not able to sleep properly. I sleep and get up in about 5 mins ith a jolt. Is it because of my thyroid levels? Please help!

Dear User,

Thanks for using health care magic.

From the available description it appears that your hypothyroidism problem is still present and needs long term eltroxin supplement. The question of sufficient or not need to be determined by the treating doctor after repeat assessment of TSH after 3 months but in my view 50 microgram is unlikely to be sufficient for you as you were taking 125 mcg few days back. With low thyroid level it is common to have sleep disturbance and you can ask for short term sedative from your doctor till normalization of thyroid status.

'Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help".
Thanks
