Can The Ear Drum Deteriorate?

I was recently told I have a half an eardrum in my right ear. I had frequent ear infections in childhood and was almost fitted for hearing aids. I started to hear mastoidley and had been told I had pin holes in each drum as a child after tube placement. Now I have half an ear drum. Could it be deteriating? I can still hear!

Yes it is possible for the size of the perforation to increase gradually. This may be due to piersistent infection. please meet an ent doctor as the drum may need to be repaired. Thanks
