Hi today i went to hospital to have a grommet put in my ear that is blocked but when they went to do it they discovered that my ear drum has collasped, will they be able to repair this? I am 42 and always had trouble with my ears and have about 70% loss of hearing in both ears.
The collapsed eardrum may due to ossicular chain rupture or retracted tympanic membrane due to negative pressure or infection or otosclerosis etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. We have to identify the cause before we confirm the problem. Please consult your ENT specialist he will examine for the cause and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
