Can The Bumps And Swollen Lymph Nodes Be Due To Gardnerella Infection?

I was just diagnosed with gardnerella but am still pending a herpes culture. I have several bumps on my vagina and clitoris. They are only external. They itch and do NOT appear to be becoming blister like even after about 3 days of first noticing them. I am on my 2nd day of flagyl. I have swollen lymph nodes in both sides of my groin. And HEAVY white (almost normal looking) discharge. Can the bumps and swollen lymph nodes be due to this gardnerella infection? I have seen several doctor and no one could diagnose me. Finally, after 6 days and 4 doctors.. She diagnosed gardnerella. I am still scared it is herpes as well. Help!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to bacterial vaginosis. These infection can cause swollen lymph nodes. The groin lymph nodes, also called inguinal nodes, are usually affected by infection or illness in the lower body including bacterial vaginosis.

I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation. I also suggest using the antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
