Can Taking Penicillin Be Safe For Strep Throat?

I have strep throat and was taking pennisilan and started yesterday, I broke out into a rash on my face and my neck so I took it back and got another type of medicine called clarithromycin, should I take it? Is it ok?? The side effects sound way worse and if I m allergic to the first one will I be ok with the second? And I only started taking the pennasillin yesterday so can the allergic reaction happen that fast? And my age is 13

Hello,

Yes, it is possible to develop rash with Penicillin. So you may take Azithromycin or Clarithromycin instead of Penicillin. Probably you may not develope allergy to them. If you observe any rash or allergic reaction to it please consult with your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
